SANEAR E CURAR: SAUDE PÚBLICA, HIGIENE E ATUAÇÃO DOS POSTOS DE PROFILAXIA NOS SERTÕES DA BAHIA (1922-1930)

Abstract

O presente estudo, busca entender a execução do projeto de saneamento dos sertões através da análise dos postos de profilaxia rural criados no interior da Bahia. Assim, busca-se através da investigação das unidades inauguradas em Juazeiro 1922 e Bonfim 1924, entender as estratégias utilizadas pelo poder público para sanear esse sertão doente e abandonado, retirando seus habitantes do atraso e da apatia e alinhando o seu desenvolvimento aos interesses nacionais. De maneira particular, o foco recai sobre os acordos firmados entre a União e o Estado da Bahia para a execução dos serviços, bem como, na observação do andamento dos trabalhos profiláticos nas duas unidades situadas na região Norte do Estado entre os anos de 1922 e 1930. Tratamos do andamento das atividades nos postos desde a sua criação, até 1930, ano em que os postos foram fechados, em decorrência da ascensão de Getúlio Vargas ao poder. Na análise destes espaços, procuramos perceber, os serviços prestados, identificando as ações voltadas para educação sanitária, bem como, a população atendida, as doenças tratadas e os entraves que surgiram na realização dos trabalhos.

ABSTRACT- This research aims on understanding the execution of the sanitation Project of the semi arid area through the analysis of the prophylaxis rural stations created in the countryside region in Bahia. Therefore, we aim through the investigation of the inaugurated units in Juazeiro 1922 and Bonfim 1924, to understand the strategies used by the government to sanitize this sick and abandoned semi arid, taking its inhabitants out of the delay and apathy and lining up its development to the national interest. On a private matter, the focus falls under the agreements signed between the Union and the state of Bahia to the execution of these services, as well as, the observation of the development of the prophylactic works in both units located within the North region of the state between the years of 1922 and 1930. We studied about the progress of the activities in the stations from their creation, until the 1930, year that the stations were closed, because of the rising of Getulio Vargas to the power. In the analysis of these spaces, we aimed to perceive the services provided, identifying the population who was benefited, the illnesses treated and the difficulties that arose during the service.
