Resumo:
This study describes the situation experienced in Bom Jardim, a traditional fundo de
pasto community located in the municipality of Canudos, BA, which has had its physical
and social landscape altered by the dynamics of the implementation and expansion of
a wind farm. The territories of fundo de pasto are disputed by the interests of economic
enterprises and suffer the consequences of the exploitation of this model. To identify
the main socio-environmental damage caused by the Canudos Wind Farm Complex,
we conducted an empirical study with inductive principles. As a methodological
approach, we conducted a case study. We found that the whole dynamic of Bom
Jardim was drastically affected by the arrival of the project, culminating in damage to
traditional ways of life; to fauna and flora, especially endangered species; restrictions
on access to communal lands with the installation of roads and gates by the project;
and increased real estate speculation in the region.
