Resumo:
This research, conducted within the Professional Master's Program in Dance at the School of Dance of the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), explores the cultural group “Luar do São João,” which performs stylized quadrilha and was founded in 2012 in the Mocambinho neighborhood, a peripheral area of Teresina, Piauí. The study aimed to develop a didactic-action—a shared pedagogical approach designed to foster emancipation through dance, supporting personal, creative, sociocultural, and professional development. Participation in quadrilha groups is a process of socialization that demands dedication, time, availability, and above all, respect. The main methodological and theoretical framework is action research (Thiollent, 1986). The didactic-action is presented in textual format with links to images and documents everyday rehearsal practices, from preparation to performance. Key references include the Laban Dictionary (Rengel, 2015), which addresses bodily actions and movement in stylized quadrilha, along with works by Nascimento (2013), Paula (2020), and Menezes Neto (2008). Beyond teaching procedures, the research emphasizes critical reflection and reasoning in the learning of stylized dance. It also highlights how the existence of such cultural groups helps reduce the criminalization of people living in vulnerable conditions within society.
