Resumo:
This is a qualitative research, which proposes to reflect, investigate and create artistic and educational propositions for the dilution of gender in ballroom dances, exploring the viability of a practice disconnected from binaries. As a gay man immersed in traditional ballroom dancing environments, I question the heteronormative rules that have shaped my practice, with no room for inquiry. I highlight the role of Coletivo Casa 4 and Grupo Dois em Um as spaces that challenge these norms, promoting other ways of dancing as a couple, making the environment more inclusive. Without separating creation and learning, I examine my performance as a teacher, using my ballroom dancing classes as a field of study and practice for an approach without class propositions that cause the dilution of roles defined based on gender, to act with perspectives that work with the idea of leading and receiving guidance. I present as productions of this research the realization of two Ballrooms, the production of a series of visual images, to compose a virtual database for public access, promoting the production of other imaginaries for Ballroom Dancing and a bibliographical production with texts reflecting on those questions. This study contributes to the debate on diversity and inclusion in ballroom dancing, exploring paths towards a more egalitarian and diverse practice.
