Abstract

The present work comprehends the historicization of the Bahian legal education, from the path taken by the Free Law School of Bahia, from the moment of its foundation to the first years of its operation, in an effort to describe the agency of its subjects in the reconfiguration of relations. of citizenship and the building of a legal-political status for the black in the historical context that followed the abolition of slavery and the structuring of the Republic. This is intended to describe the complexity of relations and strategies articulated by the Bahian legal intelligentsia around a common hegemonic episteme, racialist, positivist-evolutionist matrix, oriented to the shaping of a place of subordination of the black population in the process of work transition slave to free work.
