Estratégias linguísticas identitárias da sexualidade de surdos LGBTTQIA+ no processo de tradução LSB-LPO: como traduzir uma identidade que não é minha?

Abstract

Chaibue e Aguiar (2016) submitted statistical data to demonstrate major difficulties on the part of the Sign Language Translators/Interpreters when translating from Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) to Oral Portuguese (LPO). I will consider that, by associating Translation Studies with the current Sociolinguistics Studies, it is possible to provide solutions for the translation of the voices and images of the Deaf Gay when performing an artistic show as a Drag Queen. Thus, from a qualitative approach in which data analysis was inductive and interpretative, I invoked the (re)interpretation of the translation techniques – reformulation, free translation and back translation – so as to understand the linguistic variation, the social meaning of the variation and the speech style of the Drag Queen. As a result, I have confirmed the hypothesis raised: for translating the voices and images of the Deaf Gay when performing a Drag Queen, it is essential to associate Translation Studies with Gender and Style Studies, in particular those ones which Sociolinguistics are embedded.
