O papel da escola dentro da penitenciária: discurso oficial e desafios práticos na perspectiva de educadores

Abstract

The objective of this academic work is to study the role of the school in the environment of deprivation of liberty, to determine how the institution of formal education provides that detainees have access to education, in the form of (EJA) Education for Young and Adults. It begins with a critical analysis of the official discourse, highlighting the concepts relating to prison education, present in the laws that regulate the dynamic school inside a prison. Then, it presents field research, which involved interviews with the director and deputy director of a school located within a complex criminal in the state of Bahia. From the material produced in the research, there are the difficulties faced by the school, in a centered punitive system incarceration, and poor execution of official discourse in practice. In this case, the study identifies the necessity for changes that allow the realization of the educational exercise as a path to be followed and the realization of the right of every citizen, be it private or not their liberty.
