Emojis: o território imaginado da negritude

Abstract

The contemporaneity demands more and more changes in the way we deal with language and discussing how language, culture and discourses have been represented in this digital universe is primordial. By thinking about how the black body is read in these interactions, a discussion about the role of emojis in the identity representation of blacks is necessary and in time. With the main objective of knowing the way how identity representations of pretitude are configured in WhatsApp emojis, this research thinks about the rule of hierarchical components that pass through and merge with the issues of identities and representations which are present and enhanced in these interactions. The corpus is formed by 21 participants who are students and alumni of the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) and participate in the private Facebook group UFBA, available at www.facebook.com/groups/165870313483419/?ref=share, with 43 thousand members. The adopted methodology is located in the qualitative interpretative research and has as instruments the application of an ethnic-social questionnaire and the sending of a screen print of the most used emojis in the communicative interactions through WhatsApp. The theoreticalframework seeks to recognize that the canon is always under construction and aims to expand the epistemological decolonization supported by discussions from Stuart Hall (2010, 2016), bell hooks (2014, 2019), Lélia Gonzalez (1988), Spivak (2018), Maria Aparecida Silva Bento (2012), Gabriel Nascimentos (2019), among other theoretical contributions. The resultsindicate the way how the regularization of bodies, the construction of transience models in virtual spaces of interaction and the reenactment of coloniality from the places where the black woman/man is invited to be and leave become the corporeality organizers in this virtual space.
