TRADUZINDO A COMUNIDADE AFRO-AMERICANA DE TONI MORRISON EM SULA

Abstract

Traduzindo a comunidade afro-americana de Toni Morrison em Sula, é uma tradução comentada do romance Sula (1973), que tem como principal objetivo sua tradução interlinguística e intercultural, para nossa comunidade de leitura afro-brasileira. O trabalho divide-se em três capítulos, que desdobram esse objetivo principal. O primeiro capítulo inclui uma breve historicização dos conceitos de comunidade e seus desdobramentos, articuladamente aos elementos que constituem a comunidade fictícia de Bottom (Baixada). O segundo capítulo se concentra nas reflexões preliminares sobre a tradução, tendo como foco suas implicações linguísticas, históricas e interculturais baseadas nas principais teorias pós-estruturais da tradução e na existência do Português Afro-Brasileiro. Esses dois primeiros capítulos dão subsídios para o desdobramento da tarefa da tradução realizada no último capítulo, sob as premissas teóricas de uma abordagem pós-estruturalista, a partir de teóricos como Lawrence Venuti, Jacques Derrida, Gayatri Spivak e Anthony Appiah.

Traduzindo a comunidade afro-americana de Toni Morrison em Sula, is an annotated translation of Sula’s novel (1973) that has its main goal the intercultural and interlinguistic translation, to our afro-brasilian’s reader community. This work is divided into three chapters, which unfold this main goal. The first chapter includes a brief historical background of the concepts of community and its developments articulately with the elements that make up the fictional community of Bottom. The second chapter focuses on the preliminary reflections on translation focusing on their language, history and intercultural implications based on poststructuralist premises of translation and the existence of the Afro-Brazilian Portuguese. These first two chapters will provide subsidies for the breakdown of the translation’s work carried out in the third and last chapter of the dissertation, under the theoretical premises of a poststructuralist approach, from theoretical as Lawrence Venuti, Jacques Derrida, Gayatri Spivak and Anthony Appiah.
