Resumo:
Slavery, legally guaranteed by the State as a means of producing wealth, is no longer present on Brazilian soil as it was during colonization. However, currently, in a time of accelerated pace – virtual work and network connections – workers subjected to conditions analogous to slavery are still found, distributed throughout various parts of Brazilian territory. "Contemporary slave labor" or "labor analogous to slavery" is considered to be any working condition, even if temporary, that involves physical or moral coercion; deprivation of liberty; that is carried out in degrading conditions and without guaranteed rights. Therefore, this article presents to various interested audiences a survey of studies conducted on the legal bases that address working conditions in the country and complements this with the processes that define the specificities of this subjugation.
