Resumen:
The objective of this experiment was to evaluate the effects of the inclusion of manipulation on intake, apparent digestibility, performance, as carcass traits and the ingestive behavior of confined lambs. Thirty-five male lambs, uncastrated, mestizos from Santa Inês, aged approximately three months and mean weight of 20 ± 3.4 kg were used. The diets were formulated with voluminous and concentrate based on corn and soybeans, in a voluminous: concentrate ratio of 50:50, and added with manipulation at levels 0; 1,2; 2,4; 3.6 or 4.8% of the total diet. (CMSPV), metabolic weight (CMSPM), and dry matter intake (kg.day-1), dry matter (MS), organic matter (MO), Crude protein (PB), ethereal extract (EE), neutral detergent fiber (FDN) and non-fibrous carbohydrate (CNF). The inclusion of manipulation did not affect the consumption of ethereal extract.
Apparent digestibility of nutrients and parameters related to performance and carcass yield of the animals were not influenced (P> 0.05) by the inclusion of manipueira in the diet. In the evaluation of the behavior of the animals, it was observed that the inclusion of manipulation in the diet reduced linearly (P <0.05) the dry matter and neutral detergent fiber intake, in kg.day-1, and as rumination efficiencies from Dry matter and neutral detergent fiber, in g-bolus-1 and g.hour-1. The other behavioral parameters were not influenced by manipulation levels in the diet. In this way, the manipueira can be used at levels of up to 4.8% in diets for confined bodies without compromising the performance of the animals.
