Resumo:
“Five, six, seven, eight and…” This is the initial sequence for the playing body of the
quadrilha junina to start moving. At this moment, rhythm and time intertwine to dance a
story. Vibrating at the same frequency, this thesis explores the history of the stylized
quadrilha juninas of Feira de Santana, analyzing times and setbacks from 1988 to 2025.
“It marked, it surfed, it spun. Look at the alignment!”. Choreographic steps follow
spectacularity and resistance. Spectacularity, state of body that stands before the gaze of
the other. Resistance, state of body in constant transformative creation. “Look at the
tunnel”. In the path to get to where we want to go: to map the quadrilha juninas from 1988
to 2025; to know about their founding history, trajectory and possible end; to identify
creative actions that contribute to their maintenance and survival. “Quadrilha, êêêêê!”.
To understand cultural identity, that guides steps theorical-methodological is
ethnocenology. “Look at the big wheel” following in the reconstruction of a time-place.
The experience as brincante, hand in hand with the memories and narratives of six
quadrilha junina’s artists, will announce the emergence and end of some quadrilhas, the
festivals that happened e happen in the city, names of people who did and doing
quadrilhas performs the shows, the role played by associations, public and private entities
in supporting this popular culture and the strategies created by the quadrilhas themselves
to continue existing. “Saying goodbye to the public” and dancing towards the end of this
show. Narratives of so many brincantes voices already echo in the historical record of
quadrilhas juninas in Feira de Santana. These records are critical material to help ensures
the permanece of the quadrilha junina as an aesthetic-political culture, with a social and
pedagogical function. In the frenzy of those who sweated while dancing, the movements
of tradition expand to the creation of cultural policies that recognize the rights of the
permanence of the quadrilhas juninas.
