Resumo:
This dissertation aims to trace an intrinsic relationship between graffiti, heritage and memory.
Highlighting the way in which this art form dialogues with the subjects who transit and enjoy
their existence in the urban space. Graffiti is an artistic language that is characterized by and
dialogues with various elements of the urban landscape, establishing direct communication
with/between the individuals who transit in the city. By addressing the universe of graffiti, this
research seeks to identify the elements that make up the context and the characters surrounding
this art. The graffiti artist is taken as a sociocultural agent, provoking feelings and memory and
this is the highlight of his performance in this study. We present an approach where graffiti is
analyzed from the perspective of Museology, here taken as heritage, considering that the daily
life of cities, as they characterize places of great circulation of people, with their influences,
customs and cultures. The methodology applied refers to bibliographical research, considering
the importance of identifying graffiti and, consequently, the graffiti artist who producesit. Thus,
it is configured in a qualitative way, with the goal of deepening the discourse about the object
of study, graffiti, relating the experiences lived by graffiti artists, the cultural and social
references that construct the creation of graffiti and the interaction of urban art with everyday
life. A chapter is developed about the specific bibliographic survey on everyday life and urban
art, the historical context in which graffiti is identified as art. Another chapter dedicates
observations and analyses about the knowledge coming from Museology, thus identifying
graffiti with the character of heritage in dialogue with the field of cultural history. The
documentary source used to reinforce the theoretical foundations isthe audiovisual Paredes que
Gritam (Screaming Walls), thus, a specific chapter leads reflections on graffiti as a cultural
manifestation, expressive language with educational, social and political content. Therefore, the
related study aims to develop the urban art of graffiti and Museology in its strong features for
being questioning, provocative and critical.
