Resumo:
This work was developed in the Professional Master's Degree in Letters (PROFLETRAS) of the Federal University of Bahia, which started in April of 2018. The application was, exceptionally, in a class of the 1st Year of High School at Colégio Estadual Cidade de Camaçari, in the Metropolitan Region of Salvador, with the aim of investigating the causes and possible solutions to the difficulty of most students with regard to understanding and writing texts, as well as the little use of the concept of discursive genres in the classroom , contributing to the students' literacy process through reading activities and production of dissertative-argumentative texts, especially in the editorial genre. This work was based on the literacy concepts of Kleiman (2008), which considers the social implications, contexts and objectives of the use of writing, and of discursive genre, by Bakhtin (1997), which associates the articulation of social practices with objects in the field of teaching the production of oral and written texts. As a methodological resource, a didactic sequence consisting of reading, discussion (debate), writing and rewriting activities, among others, all related to the editorial discourse genre, was applied. The didactic sequence entitled Windows of oportunity reached the objective for which it was designed. In a more general perspective, this project significantly contributed to the students' literacy process through reading and production activities and texts. After the activities developed in class and out of class, students had greater mastery and competence in reading and writing, which was evident in the way they intervened in the discussions, as well as in the interactions during the activities of the didactic sequence. The exceptional application of this Project in a class of the 1st year of high school was due to the recent removal (transfer) from the Professor / Researcher to a teaching unit that does not offer Elementary Education - the area of expertise of the Profletras Program.
