Resumen:
In Brazil, universities have stood out in the pursuit of academic and scientific production,
especially in postgraduate courses. These institutions encourage publications and participation
in research projects by the main funding agencies in Brazil and around the world. Despite the
representativeness of Higher Education Institutions in research and scientific publications, the
disciplinary model is still dominant and spreads from the construction of research works to
their dissemination. In order to meet the demands and complexity of real issues that are part
of the life of every society, our proposal is to model the research community in networks,
describing how this community works, its relations of cooperation and scientific
collaboration, identifying multi and interdisciplinary elements, and bringing to light actors in
the network that can be identified to optimize and enrich research. The model will be
validated through a case study with the research network formed by professors and
researchers from the State University of Feira de Santana (UEFS), using public data collected
from the Lattes CVs and research groups of UEFS that were registered with the National
Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) of the Ministry of Education
(MEC). These data were processed and organized in spreadsheets, which were used to build
the networks with the help of software for visualization and calculation of metrics, helping to
identify large areas and strategic actors of the network. The model developed contributes to
effective actions to stimulate multi/interdisciplinary integration, strengthening and enriching
academic production, its dissemination, projection of incentive policies, in addition to
facilitating the democratization of information and sharing of knowledge.
