Resumen:
The current organization of vocal pedagogy, based on the three teaching approaches proposed
by Joana Mariz — Holistic-corporal, Technical-Scientific, and Empirical-Musical — was the
starting point for this study, whose research question is: In what ways can the approaches of
vocal pedagogy interrelate in order to enrich the practice of teaching popular singing in the
country? Without losing sight of the complexity of the subject, this work aims to contribute to
this ongoing discussion, still permeated by fundamental divergences. This document, a Master's
Thesis, is organized into five main chapters: Introduction, positioning the topic and the
motivation for its development; Literature Review, examining the work of national authors in
the field; Methodology, utilizing the CDG Theoretical Model; Discussion, systematizing ideas
found in the literature and developing them into a formulation of the researcher’s own; and
Conclusion, not only stating the answer found to the research question, but also pointing to
possibilities for the continuation of studies. It was found that the approaches chosen to begin
the investigation are indeed aligned with the characteristics present in the literature on vocal
pedagogy for popular singing; that interrelations between these approaches have already been
presented in academic works; and that the lack of an integrative focus for all of them is an
obstacle to the development of this area of knowledge. It is proposed, therefore, as an authorial
contribution, that Repertoire be the point of greatest interconnection between the approaches,
serving as a focus aimed at enriching the practice of teaching popular singing in the country.
