Resumo:
This study examines the role of reading in hospital settings and its impact on the emotional and cognitive well-being of hospitalized children. Through observations and experiential reports from hospital classrooms, the research investigates how literature contributes to the educational and emotional development of children undergoing treatment. The methodology includes bibliographic and legislative
analysis, as well as an evaluation of reading practices with hospitalized children. Testimonies from children, caregivers, and interns highlight the importance of reading moments in creating a welcoming environment and alleviating emotional stress. The findings indicate that reading transcends its educational purpose, serving as a therapeutic tool that provides comfort, joy, and opportunities for personal connection.
The study concludes that reading practices in hospital contexts not only support cognitive continuity but also foster a more humanized environment, promoting emotional well-being and enabling children to learn, express themselves, and stay connected to the world even during hospitalization.
