Estrutura agrária e padrão de desenvolvimento tecnológico: uma análise a partir dos municípios das regiões Norte e Noroeste do estado do Rio de Janeiro, no período de 1970 a 1995

Abstract

The objective of this research was to analyze the relationship between the level of technological development and the land structure of municipalities in the North and Northwest regions of the state of Rio de Janeiro. Factor analysis was used to characterize the level of technological development, while the Gini coefficient, the average area, and the percentage of land occupied by the 5% largest and 50% smallest establishments were used to characterize the land ownership profile. It was found that land distribution is more concentrated in the municipalities of the North region, which may have contributed to explaining their pattern of technological development, characterized by greater growth in the capital/labor ratio, while the Northwest region saw a greater increase in the intensity of land exploitation.
