A relação entre trabalho e saúde do trabalhadores no serviço público: uma reflexão sobre a produção contemporânea

Abstract

Workers’ health, from a critical theoretical perspective of understanding work in capitalist society, is understood as a phenomenon resulting from the relationship between the health of individuals who work and the conditions in which this work is carried out. In this sense, this relationship is above all social, since within the framework of society governed by the capitalist mode of production, working conditions are determined by the socio-historical specificities of this material and social mode of production. As working conditions participate in a process of social determination of workers' health, reflection on the health of public service workers, in the various institutions of direct and indirect administration of the state apparatus, is conditioned to the analysis of the repercussions of the current standard of production of the capitalist way of producing on the administrative machine of the State. This theoretical perspective guides the research object of this dissertation, limited to the investigation on how the relations between work and the health of workers in the direct and indirect administration of services that make up the structure of the state machine in Brazil are addressed/presented in scientific productions. To achieve this research objective, we opted for a Bibliographic Review Research with a methodological strategy of Integrative Review in the journals indexed in the databases: Lilacs and PubMed, in the time interval between 2010 and 2020. The research findings pointed to evidence on working conditions correlated with the health-care-illness processes of public service workers. With special emphasis on the prevalence of illness among public service workers in the field of mental health, the precariousness of working conditions due to productive restructuring and the tendency to adapt working conditions to the logic of flexibility, the Administrative Reform of the Brazilian State as an instrument which makes it possible to determine the logic of flexibility on work in the public service, co-opting the structure and power of the State for the interests of capitalism.
