O sofrimento emocional no processo de formação dos pesquisadores: um estudo de caso entre os pós-graduandos em Ciências Humanas da UFBA

Abstract

The present work aims to analyze the existing relationships between the emotional suffering of graduate students in Human Sciences at the Federal University of Bahia and the context of training of these researchers, seeking to investigate the social and political context of training of graduate students, to identify the emotional suffering among graduate students in Human Sciences and to understand whether there are relationships between the context experienced in graduate school and the emotional suffering triggered. The context in which the individual is inserted is directly related to the forms of emotional suffering that he manifests, which is why the social study of emotions contributes to deconstructing exclusively psychological thinking about the subject, considering it from a sociological perspective in which social factors , cultural, economic and political, has an influence on the forms of expression and construction of their emotions, highlighting the impacts of social transformations on the subjects' emotions and how this triggers different forms of emotional suffering in the modern and neoliberal periods. Considering the neoliberal effects in contemporary society, postgraduate studies, as an integral part of the social sphere, suffer from the consequences that this current system entails, mainly in terms of productivity and competitiveness, causing emotional impacts that have affected several researchers. Therefore, taking into account what has been debated about emotional distress in the academic context, the difficulties experienced by students, as well as the impacts of the political and economic scenario of graduate students, this work, through an approach qualitatively, the emotional distress of graduate students in Human Sciences at the Federal University of Bahia is analyzed again, seeking to understand the motivations and expectations for admission, as well as the stressors that cause emotional distress to these researchers in training, it is discussed how such aspects also have repercussions on somatizations, on their personal relationships and on their concerns and expectations about their professional future.
