Uma discussão sobre renda básica universal

Abstract

The goal of this study is to synthesize the broad set of ideas about the Universal Basic Income policy, discussing the possible impacts generated by this income transfer program and exploring the recent literature about that subject. In this sense, it is worth analyzing the micro and macroeconomic aspects involved, as well as the near Universal Basic Income experiments made all over the world. Furthermore, the study presents the recent discussion found on the national literature and in the context of the Brazilian frame. The results suggest that a well-designed Universal Basic Income policy can be very important to reduce poverty, overcome the failures of the social protection system, reduce income inequality and improve the situation of workers, especially those who work in insecure labor structures and unhealthy. But, at the same time, the implementation of the policy needs to carefully assess the possible negative incentives in the labor supply.
