Contribuições do portal de periódicos para o fortalecimento das revistas científicas da UFBA

Abstract

This live is part of the Information Records project: dialogues between Librarianship, Archival Science and Information Science; coordinated by the Superintendent of the University Library System (SIBI) /UFBA, professor Ivana Borges Lins, in partnership with the Information Science Institute (ICI) /UFBA. The live was mediated by Prof Susane Santos Barros (ICI / UFBA). The guest Me. Patrícia Barroso (librarian SIBI/UFBA), through a historical clipping, highlighted initiatives that contributed to the strengthening and visibility of periodicals, among them, the Budapest Declaration (BOAI - Budapest Open Access Initiative) that strengthened, worldwide, the open access movement. She spoke of the relevance and functions of the Periodicals Portal. A brief history of the UFBA Periodicals Portal was presented, where the main events: creation, training courses, partnerships, first meeting of editors and others, were highlighted. In addition, Patrícia listed challenges to be faced: through the UFBA Periodicals Portal (such as: delayed periodicity, low visibility, ORCID, human resources, among others); and by publishers (such as: periodicity, making partnerships). The problem of scientific editors with regard to the editorial process was highlighted, as most of them do not have editorial teams; many work as editors in addition to other roles.
