Dimensões da mediação da informação em projeto de extensão para leitura: o caso do Projeto Lapidar

Abstract

Destacando a importância da mediação da leitura em bibliotecas comunitárias, para formar leitores críticos, este estudo focaliza ações dessa natureza, no âmbito da extensão universitária, articulando a análise delas às dimensões da mediação da informação. Assim, a questão da pesquisa foi se essas dimensões têm sido alcançadas nas atividades do Projeto Lapidar, tendo como hipótese que esse alcance tem sido relativo. Seu objetivo geral foi o de analisar se as dimensões da mediação da informação têm sido alcançadas pelo Lapidar, desdobrado nos objetivos específicos de mapear as ações que são realizadas; identificar e categorizar os indicadores do alcance das dimensões nessas ações e verificar os níveis de ocorrência dos indicadores, avaliando a intensidade do alcance das dimensões da mediação da informação. O estudo foi descritivo, com abordagem qualiquantitativa, a partir da associação dos métodos do estudo de caso e participante e da adoção das técnicas da observação direta sistemática, grupo focal e entrevista semiestruturada. O universo foi o das ações do Lapidar, e a amostra as realizadas em 2019 na Biblioteca Comunitária Padre Alfonso Pacciani, composta de 14 membros do Lapidar; três representantes da Biblioteca e 42 leitores. Os principais resultados demonstraram que as ações do Lapidar se distribuem em dois eixos: voltadas para a formação do mediador e a mediação da leitura. No primeiro eixo, elas se destinam a discutir sobre as ações para a formação do mediador e adquirem um caráter de ensino-aprendizagem no planejamento e na execução delas. Já as ações de mediação da leitura visam promover e incentivar a leitura na comunidade. O mapeamento delas possibilitou identificar indicadores do alcance das dimensões da mediação da informação. No âmbito das ações de formação, o nível de ocorrência dos indicadores demonstrou um alcance relativo da dimensão dialógica; o alcance intenso da dimensão estética e relativo da dimensão formativa. Quanto às dimensões ética e política, embora com um número limitado de indicadores, foram analisadas como de intenso alcance e que possibilitam a tomada de consciência em relação à responsabilidade social da área e ao papel da mediação. Sobre o alcance das dimensões nas ações de mediação da leitura, os resultados apontaram um alcance relativo da dimensão dialógica, mas que, associado ao processo de sensibilização sobre o tema, contribuiu para o alcance intenso da dimensão estética, o que sugere algum alcance da dimensão formativa, embora os indícios para afirmá-lo tenham sido insuficientes. O mesmo ocorreu na avaliação do alcance das dimensões ética e política nessas ações. Contudo, há indícios de uma tomada de consciência pelos participantes na associação que fizeram entre o tema da leitura e suas vivências. Esses resultados mostraram a importância de pesquisas que aprofundem esse tipo de estudo e possibilitaram concluir que o Projeto Lapidar vem alcançando as dimensões da mediação da informação nas ações que realiza. Ainda que a intensidade desse alcance esteja ocorrendo sem equidade entre essas dimensões, ele vem desenvolvendo, e este estudo colabora com o avanço do Lapidar, que segue sistematicamente aperfeiçoando a formação de mediadores e cooperando para o desenvolvimento social da comunidade externa.

Highlighting the importance of reading mediation in community libraries, for the training of critical readers, this study focuses on actions of this nature within the scope of university extension, articulating their analysis to the dimensions of information mediation. Thus, the research question was whether these dimensions have been achieved in the activities of the Lapidar Project, assuming that this hypothesis has been relative. Its general objective was to identify and analyze whether the dimensions of information mediation have been achieved by Lapidar, deployed in the specific objectives of mapping the actions that are carried out; identify and categorize the indicators of the reach of the dimensions in these actions and verify the levels of occurrence of the indicators, evaluating the intensity of the reach of the dimensions of the mediation of information. The study was descriptive, with a qualitative and quantitative approach, based on the association of the methods of the case study and participant, and the adoption of the techniques of systematic direct observation, focus group and semi-structured interview. The universe was that of Lapidar's actions and the sample was made in 2019, at the Padre Alfonso Pacciani Community Library, composed of 14 members of Lapidar; three representatives of the Library and 42 readers. The main results showed that Lapidar's actions are divided into two axes: focused on the training of mediators and the mediation of reading. In the first axis, they are intended to discuss actions for the training of mediators and acquire a teaching-learning character in their planning and execution. The reading mediation actions aim to promote and encourage reading in the community. Their mapping made it possible to identify indicators of the scope of the dimensions of information mediation. In the scope of training actions, the level of occurrence of the indicators demonstrated a relative reach of the dialogical dimension; the intense reach of the aesthetic dimension; relative to the formative dimension, and the ethical and political dimensions, although with a limited number of indicators, were analyzed as being of intense scope, allowing awareness of the area's social responsibility and the role of mediation. As for the reach of dimensions in reading mediation actions, the results pointed to a relative reach of the dialogical dimension, but which, associated with the awareness process on the theme, contributed to the intense reach of the aesthetic dimension, which suggests some reach of the formative dimension, although the evidence to affirm it was insufficient. The same occurred in assessing the reach of the ethical and political dimensions in these actions. However, there is evidence of an awareness by participants in the association they made between the topic of reading and their experiences. These results show the importance of research that deepens this type of study, but also allows us to conclude that the Lapidar Project has been reaching the dimensions of information mediation in the actions it carries out. Although the intensity of this reach is occurring without equity between these dimensions, it has been developing, and this study can collaborate with the advancement of Lapidar, which continues to systematically improve the training of mediators and cooperate with the social development of the external community.
