OHHH, O HORROR!!! O Medo no Cinema Silencioso: Mostra de Cinema

Abstract

Esse trabalho é um memorial descritivo e analítico sobre a Mostra Ohhh, o horror!!! O Medo no Cinema Silencioso, que surgiu como um espaço de apreciação das leituras de filmes da Era Silenciosa, em especial de películas icônicas do Expressionismo Alemão, possibilitando ao público soteropolitano a fruição estética desse tipo de cinema. Sediada no Auditório da FACOM/UFBA, a Mostra promoveu um diálogo entre estudantes, profissionais e público em geral sobre a influência dos filmes expressionistas no aprimoramento da recém criada linguagem cinematográfica e sua importância na impressão imagética do contexto histórico em que estavam inseridos. Além disso, habilitou os espectadores a identificarem e relacionarem elementos expressionistas na produção audiovisual contemporânea. Composta por cinco filmes (Metropolis, O Gabinete do Doutor Caligari, Nosferatu, O Homem que Ri e O Golem), além de uma mesa de debate com o tema “Tela Demoníaca – O Medo no Expressionsimo Alemão”, a Mostra obteve êxito no seu objetivo de ser a edição-piloto de uma mostra de cinema silencioso. Enfim, a Mostra Ohhh, o horror!!! O Medo no Cinema Silencioso colocou Salvador em contato com esse momento de redescoberta e ressignificação da memória visual da Humanidade.

This following pages contain a descriptive memorial of the Film Festival called Ohhh, terror!!! - Fear in the Silent Film. This film festival was created to be a space of appreciation, readings and interpretation of films that belong to the Silent Era, with a special attention to the iconic German Expressionism’s movies. One of the goals of this festival was to bring to the public of Salvador an aesthetic taste of this film genre, which also represents the embryonic cinema. Ohhh, terror!!! - Fear in the Silent Film, took place in the Federal University of Bahia, at the Communication college’s Auditorium and promoted a dialog between students, professionals and the general public about the influence of expressionist’s films in the development of the recently created cinematographic story-telling, but also its importance in the creation of a type of image that represented the historical period this genre was inserted in. Beside that the film festival helped the public to identify expressionist’s elements in the contemporary cinema productions. Composed by five titles: Metropolis, The Cabinet of Dr. Calligari, Nosferatu, The Man Who Laughs, The Golem, the festival also promoted a debate called: Demonic Screen - Fear in the German Expressionism. Saying that, one can certify the results of this film festival as being a successful pilot of a silent film festival. Triumphantly Ohhh, terror!!! - Fear in the Silent Film, was able to put Salvador in contact with this moment of rediscovering and redefining the visual memory of Humanity.
