Resumo:
This work is presented as a requirement for obtaining a Master´s Degree from the Professional
Postgraduate Program in Music (PPGPROM) of the Federal University of Bahia and has its
general objective to construct a proposal for teaching the oboe in the initial stages of training.
As for the specific objectives, these are: a) to reflect on the important stages of the author's life,
addressing her professional experience as a musician and teacher; b) to discuss the experience
at the PPGPROM; c) to present the Academic Article entitled “Introduction to the Oboe in
Northeast Brazil: Relevant Pedagogical Aspects”; d) to present the Final Product of the
PPGPROM – the didactic material “Discovering the Oboe: Teaching Notebook for the First
Oboe Lessons”. In this way, we seek to answer the research question-problem: How to promote
the initiation of the oboe according to the demands of contemporary music education? The
justification for the theme is based on the personal experiences of the author, who has worked
as an oboist and educator since 2018, facing several challenges. The discussion about oboe
teaching is essential to broaden the horizons of research in the academic field, promoting a
dialogue between Brazilian educational and cultural reality. From a social point of view, this
work is justified by directly benefiting students and teachers who work on musical projects in
communities with limited pedagogical and technical resources. The methodology is based on
the foundations of qualitative research, and on the bibliographic method, as to its procedure.
Regarding the theoretical foundation, this research was based on: Mota (2017); Domingues
(2017); Nascimento (2022); Pineda (2003); Ribeiro (2021); Schaeferdiek (2009), and Schultz
(2017), among others. As a result, a proposal of pedagogical activities for individual and group
oboe lessons was developed, presented in the format of a Teaching Notebook, aligned with the
Course Plan. Thus, this work seeks to offer a contribution to the area of music teaching and
encourage future related research, promoting a broader and more accessible understanding of
the universe of oboe.
