Resumen:
The objective of this work is to present and describe the research process and the results achieved in the Professional Master's Course of the Professional Graduate Program in Music at the Federal University of Bahia – PPGPROM. This research consists of an academic descriptive memorial, an article, and a product. The memorial includes accounts of the researcher’s musical journey and the academic steps taken during the master's program; the article explores the connections between improvisation in jazz and Brazilian music, highlighting the didactic importance of this musical dialogue. The article analyzes the theoretical systematizations that have occurred in this genre and their contribution to the practice of presenting creative thought about music in Brazil. The final product of this work encompasses the creation of a didactic booklet for saxophone focused on improvisation, addressing the processes of improvisation progressively, following the points investigated in this research.
