Abstract:
This final conclusion work, presented to the Postgraduate Program in Music
(PPGPROM) of the School of Music of the Federal University of Bahia, includes the
Memorial, the Article, the Final Product and the Report of Supervised Practices. In
the Memorial I share the beginning of my musical career as a student in social
projects and at the São Paulo State School of Music (EMESP), my studies at the
Buchmann Mehta School of Music in Tel Aviv-Israel, my experience as a professional
musician in the Philharmonic Orchestra of Minas Gerais (OFMG) and pursuing
master’s degree at PPGPROM. Then I present the Article, which deals with the
importance of mental preparation for the performer. The discussion will be based on
data collected through interviews and experiments that address the effectiveness of
mental preparation for performers, gathered from musicians of (OFMG). In the third
part I present, as a Final Product, a selection of three excerpts from the Inner Game
of Music translated into Portuguese, accompanied by comments that resume the
ideas created by Barry Green and how the author of this work puts them into practice
in their daily musical routine.
