Resumo:
This master's dissertation focused on the process of Black identity development constructed by phenotypically brown people. The general objective was to understand the process of Black identity development among phenotypically brown people based on Brazilian racial issues, particularly regarding miscegenation and multiple racial categorizations. The research was qualitative and empirical in nature. The approach guiding its development was a case study, and data collection was conducted through interviews focusing on the life stories of the participants. A total of four cases comprise the research: three interviewees and my own story, which formed part of the research as a case study. The analytical framework that outlines the research is multidisciplinary, encompassing anthropology, sociology, and psychoanalysis, and was based on theoretical constructs on cultural identity produced largely by authors from the African diaspora. In this way, we sought to better understand the different nuances that are present in the process of identifying brown subjects in relation to blackness.
