Abstract:
Bearing in mind the problematization of the relationship between the discourse of gender and power based on the female priesthood and the development of the terreiro communities and what actually materializes in the dynamics and reality of the terreiros managed by ìyás, an essential element for the very religious preservation of the terreiros as sacred spaces, the present study deals with matrifocality and social management at Ilê Ibse Olominda Axé Yemanjá, in order to analyze how social management processes have an impact on the territorialization and preservation of the identity of Terreiros de Candomblé under female leadership in the Recôncavo Identity Territory, taking as an object of analysis the Ilê Ibse Olominda Axé Yemanjá, in Muritiba/BA. To do so, it will be necessary to investigate whether and how social management based on the exercise of female power has promoted changes in the dynamics and sacred practices of the Terreiro, to understand how the Terreiro contributes to the process of socio-territorial and political consolidation in its surroundings. and how it relates to the local community and identifies existing models of matrifocal social management, which from the determinable experiences, are able to contribute with a rational model to the common needs of the studied territory. A research will then be carried out in the case study category, with an exploratory approach and a qualitative approach, complemented by quantitative data. The study will include two phases: document analysis and field research. Documents referring to the constitution of the Terreiro object of the research were analyzed, with emphasis on the daily life of the yás, managers of the sacred space. In the field research, rites of the Terreiro will be followed, as well as people from the religious community and visitors will be interviewed. Given this, it is expected to be able to understand the role and strength of female social management in the aforementioned Terreiro, with effective possibilities of expanding its results, hopefully for the potential of other Terreiros managed by women, the concrete reality of many Ilês in the Recôncavo Identity Territory, as well as in the state of Bahia.
