Resumen:
The research aimed to carry out a thematic analysis of press coverage about Psychedelic substances in Brazil based on articles published between 2020 and 2023 on the most popular News portals with the greatest access in that country. A total of 293 articles were selected from the News portals Globo, UOL, Folha de São Paulo, Metrópoles, Veja, Terra and R7. From the analysis of the materials, five themes were developed, discussed here in order of prevalence: 1) Health and Science; 2) Mainstream Culture; 3) Legislation; 4) Market; and 5) Spirituality. The initial results of the research point to a predominance of press coverage about psychedelics with na emphasis on their uses with therapeutic intentions and the results of Scientific research thet reinforce their potential medicinal benefits. This majority focus reinforces the understanding of the Psychedelic Renaissance as a social phenomenon marked mainly by the resumption of research with psychedelics in humans, and the advancement of debate and interest in regulating the medical and therapeutic uses of psychedelics. Understanding the phenomenon exclusevely from a biomedical and therapeutical paradigma can narrow the possibilities for assimilating other social and spiritual uses, as well as denying the contribution of other knowledge and epistemologies, Leading to the reproduction of structural violence and methodological mistakes.
