Abstract:
This research presents the relations or intersections between the railway and the spaces occupied by it, in a timeline that follows from before its creation, use, closure, and subsequent processes, as a natural cycle of the existence of the museum object itself. Thus, the objective is to carry out a case study on the existence, use and interruption of train and railway in the Subúrbio Ferroviário de Salvador as an important part of the museum object as it connects the various localities of the region interconnected by Avenida Afrânio Peixoto, Known as Suburban Avenue, guardian of a significant legacy for the formation and growth of the city of Salvador and, consequently, for the state of Bahia. The hypothesis is that when closing a cycle, others are initiated, giving rise to other intersections in space/ time, realizing that the new cycles give opportunity to know other objects and individuals connected by time in the same space. In this continuity, the specific objectives were: Carry out a bibliographical survey on themes related to the railway, memory, museum objects and the Railway Suburb of Salvador; Understand the historical process of creation, installation, maintenance and closure of the train and railway in the Salvador Railway Suburb; Understand the collection protection mechanisms used by heritage protection bodies; Analyze the processes of transformation and (re)meanings attributed to heritage through understanding the museum object. The research used the qualitative method, with exploratory purpose because it is a case study, whose form can be considered qualitative and applied. The methodology used is based on the survey of primary documentation, publications, academic papers and institutional sites. Thus, the initial search started from bibliographies focused on the issues of the object of study of Museology and the history of installation and permanence of the railroad in order to direct, from some theoretical references, starting from the approach that in nature relations and transformations are part of their existence. As to its objectives, the investigation follows the explanatory method, since from the case study of the railway of the suburb of Salvador seeks to understand the museum object as the temporal junctions in the space where the train was installed, used and finished. From the study it was possible to confirm its hypothesis, since the relationships that are established and firmed around the object are unique of each individual, they are part of the construction process and the (re)knowledge that was established between the social body and the object. They can be continuous, they can be renewed from the new cycle of the object, but they only make sense and have continuity if it is of interest of the individual, the group in which the object is or that was inserted, because the museum object remains “alive” due to the relationships that are established and maintained from its new composition or configuration.
