Resumo:
In 2018, the enactment of Law No. 13,718 classified sexual harassment as a crime in
Brazil, defining it as a lewd act against someone, without consent, to satisfy one's own
lust or that of a third party. This legislation alerted society to the urgency of combating
violence against women and denaturalizing behaviors previously considered subtle. In
view of this, it is essential to propose actions that offer alternatives to violent
relationships, especially against women. Based on the belief that the teaching of
Theater can contribute to the deconstruction of sexist behaviors, this master’s thesis
investigates the impact of Theater teaching on the perception of violence against
women, with a focus on sexual harassment. The research, which dialogues with the
principles of Augusto Boal's Theater of the Oppressed (2019), was conducted virtually
with elementary and high school students from a public school in Salvador (BA), using
technological tools such as WhatsApp, Facebook, and Google Meet. Between
September 2020 and February 2021, virtual experiments were conducted, divided into
asynchronous and synchronous stages. Data collection included participant
observation, structured interviews with students' families, and online questionnaires.
Data analysis, carried out using Laurence Bardin's Content Analysis (2002), sought to
deepen the understanding of the process and its meanings. The results demonstrated
the feasibility of adapting Theater teaching to the virtual environment, in a suitable
setting to any young person or teenager with access to the necessary equipment. This
modality becomes an effective tool for monitoring and in the creative process, in
addition to the countless possibilities for hybrid creations (investigations of creative
processes in virtual environments). That said, I believe that carrying out the theater
experiment in a virtual environment achieved its goals due to the participation of
students, consolidating an autonomous artistic practice even in times of social
distancing imposed by Covid-19, as well as the production of the virtual scenic result
(video), which can be used as a teaching material by targeted research or in the
classroom.
