The research deals with the prenatal care of pregnant women having as object the conceptions regarding prenatal consultation and in order to analyze the concepts of pregnant women in relation to prenatal care. This is an exploratory-descriptive qualitative study, carried out from August to October 2014 in a Public Maternity of Salvador, Bahia Education, with the participation of 12 pregnant women. Obeying the ethical aspects, the empirical data were obtained through semi-structured interviews and subjected to content analysis guided by Bardin. The analysis of empirical data emerged three themes, namely: the attendance at prenatal care; guidance and information: the care component and expectations for prenatal care. In the first category, we discuss the concepts of most pregnant women considering prenatal an important accompaniment to them and to the fetus, but much emphasized also be important only to the fetus, this shows that the design change is in course, but the focus on the other care, is still widely practiced; and the improvement of medical care and nursing, but nevertheless reinforce the biomedical model. Guidance and information: the care component in this category pregnant women positively evaluate the care provided in prenatal care, including care nurses, health care and the guidance and information provided by both; the guidelines are directed to healthy food, in particular the reduction of salt intake, weight gain, physical exercise, among others; pregnant women made explicit as information needs, as the binding Maternity and fear of pregnancy complications and insecurity; leading us to infer the non-uniformity in the guidelines, depending on the professional attending the woman, her sensitivity and strategies adopted to achieve the pregnant woman. In the third category: expectations for prenatal care, pregnant women expressed a desire to receive information on the vitality of the fetus, how to take care of the newborn (a) whether have the right to guaranteed companion; on the type of delivery, whether it is normal or cesarean section, but which had not yet been addressed; also appeared to expectations of prenatal care only by the doctor explained the speeches the social imaginary of the importance and appreciation of the medical professional as the center of health care. Finally, the adoption of lifelong learning with (the) pre-natalist believe is necessary, in order to stimulate the realization of health education on prenatal care and the discussion of care models in the quest for equity and a real comprehensive care pregnant women; associated with the implementation of a protocol that clearly defines the joint and integrated operations between doctors (as), nurses (as) and other professionals for the performance of prenatal care. Suggest new research field, to monitor the prenatal service from observing and listening to pregnant women. As well as intervention research to implement the protocol instrumentalizes health team to achieve quality and comprehensive care to women's health and her fetus through the multi attention
