Resumo:
This article aims to present aspects related to the archival management of documents and the challenges for the use of digital documents in the health area. As for the methodology, the research has an exploratory character and a qualitative approach. It adopts documentary and bibliographic research as procedures. The importance of archival documents and the role of archival management of documents are highlighted as essential devices to guarantee to society the right of access to information produced, received and accumulated within the scope of health systems and services. In this context, the adoption of archival requirements is necessary to guarantee the authenticity and preservation of documents. Finally, it is concluded that the health services and systems need to adopt, through their information and archives policies, the requirements related to the archival management of documents, especially with regard to digital documents.
