ORNATUS VIEIRIANO: Retórica, Hermenêutica e Similitude em Antonio Vieira

Abstract

A presente tese versa sobre a Retórica, Hermenêutica e Similitude em Antonio Vieira. Pressupõe-se que esses três elementos compõem um desenho teórico envolvente nos escritos vieirianos e que nos possibilitam enxergar a criação literária imensa e intrigante. Na vasta literatura, sermões, epistolografia e livros proféticos, a presente pesquisa concentra-se na ordem do profetismo, mais especificamente, o livro A chave dos profetas (2013), por entender ser uma obra de grande extensão teórica. A fim de nortear o trabalho investigativo, propõem-se questionamentos, a saber: como a retórica auxilia na construção do discurso literário do escritor português? E mais, como ponto controverso: como é possível afirmar que Vieira faça uso da retórica se o que se lê é a abordagem literal quando discursa sobre alguma ideia? Tais quesitos apontam para a interpretação, muitas vezes em sentido literal, e utilização das Escrituras Sagradas, além de figuras as quais ornam o discurso. Com a pesquisa, percebe-se, sobretudo, uso da similitude, dentre as outras marcas figurativas, cuja presença se faz com mais intensidade em A chave dos profetas (2013), constituindo-se assim em um livro histórico. A história, por sua vez, elemento inerente ao saber profético, e à Chave dos profetas, revela-se como a chave-mestra, a interpretação que implica em causar ruptura retórica e, ao preencher as lacunas, impõe-se enquanto discurso teológico e quinto-imperialista. O jogo entre o literal e a similitude se estabelece, então, no livro em estudo e formaliza um caminho metonímico do padre Antonio Vieira.

The thesis discusses about Rhetoric, Hermeneutic and Similitude in Antonio Vieira. It is presupposed that these elements compose a theoretic line that involve the writing of Vieira and enable us to note an immense and intriguing literary creation. In large literature, sermons, epistles and prophetic books, this work has focus on prophetism, more specifically, the book A chave dos profetas (2013), because it is a great theoretic work. In order to guide the investigative research, it is proposed some questions as: how does the rhetoric help the construction of literary discourse of the Portuguese writer? Besides that, in the opposite: how is it possible to claim that Vieira use the rhetoric if he resorts to literal approaches? Often, these quests point to interpretation in literal meaning and application of the Holy Scriptures, in addition to use figures, which accoutre the speech. With our research, is perceived, above all, use of similarity, among figuratives marks, whose presence happens with more intensity in A chave dos profetas (2013), instituting a book of history. The history, accordingly, an intrinsic element to know prophetic, and to that book, reveals itself with the master key, the interpretation, that implies a rhetorical break and, filling the gaps, it is imposed as the fifth imperialist theological anthropological discourse. The game between the literal and the similitude sets up itself, then, in the searched book and formalize a metonymic route of the priest Antonio Vieira.
