Alegorias contemporâneas: imagens do pensamento nas líricas de Mayrant Gallo e Gonçalo M. Tavares

Abstract

Na contemporaneidade, a aproximação temática com o cotidiano e a narratividade presente nos poemas reabilitam o modo de pensar por imagens. Pensar por imagens é procedimento da alegoria, que deixa de ser vista como mero recurso estilístico e passa a ser adotada como forma de pensar. Nesta tese, a alegoria é utilizada como procedimento para a leitura da poesia contemporânea de Gonçalo M. Tavares e de Mayrant Gallo, bem como instrumento de análise das imagens que ressaltam nessas poesias. Empreendeu-se, portanto, um estudo comparado, buscando identificar pontos de convergência e distanciamento no que tange ao uso da alegoria por esses poetas. A escolha de uma possível definição para a alegoria foi feita a partir dos estudos de Walter Benjamin, os quais imprimiram uma nova noção acerca dessa figura de pensamento. Primeiro, ao estudar o drama trágico do período barroco, o filósofo distinguiu a alegoria do conceito de símbolo, enfatizando que a linguagem simbólica é imbuída da ideia de significado pleno e eterno. A reabilitação da alegoria se deu pelo reconhecimento de sua instabilidade de significados, e a profusão da temporalidade e da história. Posteriormente, ao analisar a obra poética de Baudelaire, Benjamin conseguiu captar a transitoriedade inerente à alegoria na temática da cidade e da modernidade, explorada pelo poeta francês. Associada à ideia da alegoria, Benjamin ainda apresenta concepção sobre a aura, a categoria do flâneur, a noção de fantasmagoria, de rastro, a experiência vivida de choque e a melancolia. A partir dessas categorias, intentou-se observar a recorrência de certas imagens dentro das temáticas da cidade, do tempo e da morte que denunciam Gonçalo M. Tavares e Mayrant Gallo como poetas alegoristas.

In contemporaneity, the thematic approach to daily life and the narrative present in the poems rehabilitate the way of thinking by images. Thinking by images is a procedure of allegory, which is no longer seen as a mere stylistic resource to be adopted as a way of thinking. In this thesis, the allegory is used as a procedure to read the contemporary poetry of Gonçalo M. Tavares and Mayrant Gallo, as well as an instrument for analyzing the images that stand out in these poems. A comparative study was therefore undertaken, seeking to identify points of convergence and distance from the use of allegory by these poets. The choice of a possible definition for the allegory was made from the studies of Walter Benjamin, which gave a new notion about this figure of thought. First, in studying the tragic drama of the Baroque period, the philosopher distinguished the allegory of the symbol concept, emphasizing that symbolic language is imbued with the idea of full and eternal meaning. The rehabilitation of the allegory occurred by the recognition of its instability of meanings, and the profusion of temporality and history. Later, when analyzing the poetic work of Baudelaire, Benjamin succeeded in capturing the inherent transience of the allegory in the theme of the city and of modernity, explored by the French poet. Associated with the idea of allegory, Benjamin still presents conception about the aura, the category of flâneur, the notion of phantasmagoria, of traces, the lived experience of shock and melancholy. From these categories, it was attempted to observe the recurrence of certain images within the themes of the city, time and death that denounce Gonçalo M. Tavares and Mayrant Gallo as allegorical poets.
