dc.description.abstractThe phytochemical study of plant species from the semi-arid and Recôncavo regions of Bahia has shown the presence of metabolites with relevant pharmacognostic and biotechnological properties. In a scenario of growing demand for sustainable solutions, the application of plant active ingredients in natural photoprotectors becomes a potential alternative. Hancornia speciosa Gomes has high antioxidant potential, although its use as a photoprotective agent remains incipient. This study investigated the chemical profile of extracts and fractions from the leaves and stem of the species using high-resolution mass spectrometry (UHPLC-HRMS), with subsequent analysis by molecular networks (Feature-based Molecular Networking - GNPS), and evaluated their antioxidant and photoprotective properties. A technological mapping was also conducted (via the PRISMA protocol) that showed the growth of innovations related to antioxidants and natural photoprotectors, although with limited Brazilian participation. The extracts were subjected to in vitro antioxidant tests (DPPH·, FRAP, total phenolic content and beta-carotene degradation), as well as determination of the sun protection factor (SPF) by the Mansur method. Additionally, a factorial design (33-1) was applied to optimize cosmeceutical formulations based on the extracts. The results indicated that the ethanolic extract of the stem (EETC) showed the best antioxidant performance (95.48±1.36% in DPPH·) and the highest reducing capacity in FRAP (45,008±858.30 µM FeSO₄/g). Metabolomic analysis revealed 56 putatively annotated compounds, distributed in 334 clusters and 3,481 nodes, highlighting glycosylated flavonoids, iridoids, pyrrolizidine alkaloids, carbohydrates and amino acids. A correlation was observed between the structure of glycosylated flavonoids and their antioxidant activity. In the antimicrobial screening, EETF inhibited Bacillus cereus (78.44±2.63%) and EETC was more effective against Candida auris (57.24±3.37%), with lower toxicity against Artemia salina. The optimized formulation with EETC obtained SPF higher than 44, demonstrating its high potential for cosmeceutical applications. Therefore, H. speciosa proves to be a promising source of bioactive metabolites, with prospects for the development of natural photoprotectors of high biotechnological value, reinforcing the importance of future studies, especially with the application of nanotechnologies.pt_BR

dc.description.resumoO estudo fitoquímico de espécies vegetais do semiárido e do Recôncavo baiano tem evidenciado a presença de metabólitos com propriedades farmacognósticas e biotecnológicas relevantes. Em um cenário de crescente demanda por soluções sustentáveis, a aplicação de ativos vegetais em fotoprotetores naturais torna-se uma alternativa potencial. Hancornia speciosa Gomes apresenta elevado potencial antioxidante, embora sua utilização como agente fotoprotetor permaneça incipiente. Este estudo investigou o perfil químico de extratos e frações das folhas e do caule da espécie por meio de espectrometria de massas de alta resolução (UHPLC-HRMS), com posterior análise por redes moleculares (Feature-based Molecular Networkig - GNPS), e avaliou suas propriedades antioxidantes e fotoprotetoras. Conduziu-se também um mapeamento tecnológico (via protocolo do prisma) que evidenciou o crescimento de inovações relacionadas a antioxidantes e fotoprotetores naturais, embora com limitada participação brasileira. Os extratos foram submetidos a testes antioxidantes in vitro (DPPH·, FRAP, teor de fenólicos totais e degradação do betacaroteno), bem como à determinação do fator de proteção solar (FPS) pelo método de Mansur. Adicionalmente, um planejamento fatorial (33-1 ) foi aplicado para otimizar formulações cosmecêuticas com base nos extratos. Os resultados indicaram que o extrato etanólico do caule (EETC) apresentou o melhor desempenho antioxidante (95,48 ± 1,36% no DPPH·) e maior capacidade redutora no FRAP (45.008 ± 858,30 µM FeSO₄/g). A análise metabolômica revelou 56 compostos anotados putativamente, distribuídos em 334 clusters e 3.481 nodos, destacando flavonoides glicosilados, iridoides, alcaloides pirrolizidínicos, carboidratos e aminoácidos. Observou-se uma correlação de arcabouços moleculares da rede com o núcleo flavona entre a estrutura dos flavonoides glicosilados e sua atividade antioxidante. Na triagem antimicrobiana, o EETF inibiu Bacillus cereus (78,44 ± 2,63%) e o EETC foi mais eficaz contra Candida auris (57,24 ± 3,37%), com menor toxicidade frente a Artemia salina. A formulação otimizada com EETC obteve FPS superior a 44, demonstrando seu elevado potencial para aplicações cosmecêuticas. Portanto, H. speciosa revela-se uma fonte promissora de metabólitos bioativos, com perspectivas para o desenvolvimento de fotoprotetores naturais de alto valor biotecnológico, reforçando a importância de estudos futuros, especialmente com aplicação de nanotecnologias.pt_BR
