As lâminas de machado lascadas Aratu de Piragiba - BA

Abstract

Esta obra aborda, do ponto de vista tecnológico, as lâminas de machado lascadas do sítio de Piragiba, uma aldeia da tradição ceramista Aratu. Inicialmente, uma revisão bibliográfica recupera os escassos dados sobre a indústria lítica dessa tradição e, especificamente, sobre os utensílios em questão. São arrolados outros sítios com instrumentos semelhantes, verificada a sua distribuição geográfica e comparadas as indústrias de dois deles. Possíveis marcas de uso foram identificadas, descritas e apresentadas por meio de indicadores tecnológicos e com registros fotográficos. Transformações das lâminas de machado lascadas em outros utensílios são detectadas a partir dos estigmas tecnológicos. Por fim, a atribuição de lâminas de machado lascadas com tecnologia semelhante a outras tradições ceramistas é discutida.

This work addresses, from a technological perspective, the knapped axe blades from the Piragiba site, an Aratu ceramist tradition village. Initially, a bibliographic revision recovers the scarce data about the lithic industry for this tradition, and specifically, for the utensils in question. Other sites with similar instruments are discussed, their geographic distribution is verified, and two of the sites´ instruments are compared to those found at the Piragiba site. Possible use-wear signs were identified, described and presented through the use of technological indicators and photographic records. Transformations in the knapped axe blades in other utensils are detected through technological scar. Finally, the attribution of flaked axe blades with similar technology to other ceramist traditions is also discussed.
