Abstract: Este trabalho analisa a visão dos dois principais veículos de comunicação impressa do estado da Bahia (Jornal a Tarde e Jornal da Bahia) nos anos de 1963-64, compreendendo suas posições sobre o governo presidencialista de João Goulart. Além de enfatizar a necessidade de compreender o papel do jornalismo na divulgação do perigo comunista, importante fator para a derrubada do governo Goulart. Desta forma é de fundamental importância analisar a fonte jornalística no contexto dos anos 1960 como uma das principais responsáveis pela derrubada do regime constitucional de 31 de março de 1964. Sem esquecer a influência de um momento marcado por um contexto político marcado pela exaltação contra o comunismo e a Revolução Cubana, bem como as dificuldades enfrentadas pelo governo Goulart frente às demandas dos mais diversificados setores da sociedade, levando-se em consideração as peculiaridades da conjuntura baiana no período estudado. This paper examines the vision of two major news outlets printed the state of Bahia (Official Journal of the Afternoon and Bahia) for the years 1963-64, including their positions on the presidential government of João Goulart. In addition to emphasizing the need to understand the role of journalism in the dissemination of communist threat, an important factor in the overthrow of the Goulart government.
