"Relendo notícias": o jornalismo baiano e o governo de João Goulart (1963-1964)

Abstract

Este trabalho analisa a visão dos dois principais veículos de comunicação impressa do estado da Bahia (Jornal a Tarde e Jornal da Bahia) nos anos de 1963-64, compreendendo suas posições sobre o governo presidencialista de João Goulart. Além de enfatizar a necessidade de compreender o papel do jornalismo na divulgação do perigo comunista, importante fator para a derrubada do governo Goulart. Desta forma é de fundamental importância analisar a fonte jornalística no contexto dos anos 1960 como uma das principais responsáveis pela derrubada do regime constitucional de 31 de março de 1964. Sem esquecer a influência de um momento marcado por um contexto político marcado pela exaltação contra o comunismo e a Revolução Cubana, bem como as dificuldades enfrentadas pelo governo Goulart frente às demandas dos mais diversificados setores da sociedade, levando-se em consideração as peculiaridades da conjuntura baiana no período estudado.
