Hiperinflação: uma revista ao fenômeno e suas implicações na economia brasileira entre as décadas de 1980 e 1990

Abstract

Esta monografia se propõe a compreender a hiperinflação através dos modelos explicativos mais importantes até o presente momento, sendo possível, deste modo, entender como foram pensadas e executadas as políticas econômicas responsáveis pela estabilização do marco alemão e da moeda brasileira em seus respectivos processos hiperinflacionários. Também será possível observar se as hiperinflações mais recentes guardam as características das hiperinflações clássicas. O contexto histórico talvez seja a principal explicação para a particularidade da hiperinflação à moda brasileira, e por isto, grande parte da análise é ancorada em relatos históricos.

This paper aims to understand the hyperinflation phenomenon through the most important explanatory models until this date, thus, understanding how the economic policies, responsible for the stabilization of the German Mark and the Brazilian currency, were conceived and implemented in their respective hyperinflationary processes. In addition, it will be possible to observe whether the most recent hyperinflation periods keep the characteristics of the classic hyperinflation, or not. It is believed that the Brazilian phenomenon has many particularities, but their characteristics, if we observe closely, approaches to the classic cases of 1920s. The historical context may be the main reason for the particularity of hyperinflation “the Brazilian way”; therefore, most of the analysis is anchored in historical reports.
