Uma lésbica é uma mulher?: vozes e silêncios

Abstract

If discrimination against women is already sufficiently unbearable, due to all the issues surrounding this phenomenon, it is not scared when we imagine the complexity level of the lesbian women's suffering in a heteronormative and chauvinist society and how laborious and exhausting the construction process of their identities should be, causing them to be recognized as having desires and rights. This qualitative research through semi-structured interviews is looking for find how the process of constructing their identities is, which clashes, challenges, and consequences for women generated by taking up lesbian positions. This paper presents the historical background of lesbianism and its developments, the socio-historical overview of the feminist movement in a dialogue with the lesbian-feminist movement, and a discussion on the identities construction relating to Queer Theories and some positions of feminism as identitarian politics. This paper engages in a political stance to collaborate with the visibility and positioning of lesbian women in order to collaborate with greater participation and recognition in society.
