A “Expositio Sermonum Antiquorum” de Fulgêncio, o mitógrafo: estudo introdutório, tradução e notas

Abstract

O presente trabalho se centra na tradução e estudo da obra Expositio sermonum antiquorum, da autoria de Fábio Plancíades Fulgêncio, conhecido como o Mitógrafo, em função da difusão de sua obra mitográfica durante a Idade Média. A partir de um estudo introdutório, em que se discute a tradição em que se insere a obra do tipo enciclopédico-miscelânico, com a estratégia de recurso à memória, e em que se explicitam elementos da tradição manuscrita e impressa da obra, apresentamos a nossa proposta de tradução anotada da Sermonum, a primeira para o português, como forma de contribuir para o desenvolvimento do projeto de análise e tradução de toda a obra fulgenciana, em realização no Programa de Pós-graduação em Literatura e Cultura da Universidade Federal da Bahia.

This work focuses on the analysis and translation of Fulgentius’ Expositio sermonum antiquorum, author known as the Mythographer, because of the diffusion of his mythographic work during the Middle Ages. From an introductory study that discusses the tradition in which the work of the encyclopedic-miscellanic type is inserted, through the strategy of resorting to memory, and in which elements of the manuscript and printed tradition of the work are presented, we propose our annotated translation of Sermonum, the first one into Portuguese, as a way of contributing to the development of the project of analysis and translation of the entire Fulgentian work, in progress at Bahia Federal University's Postgraduate Program in Literature and Culture.
