Democracia digital

Abstract

This live is part of the Information Records project: dialogues between Librarianship, Archival Science and Information Science; coordinated by the Superintendent of the University Library System (SIBI/UFBA), Professor Ivana Borges Lins, in partnership with the Information Science Institute (ICI)/UFBA. Librarian Ramon Davi Santana (SIBI/UFBA) interviewed Prof. Dr. David, Nemer (University of Virginia, USA). During the interview, David Nemer spoke about his experiences and research, which are based on society, culture and computing. He defined Digital Democracy as the exercise of the citizen's role in the digital environment. He highlighted the relevance of physical libraries and the role of the librarian in a digital environment in the construction of digital democracy. The professor presented his book “Technology of the Oppressed” in which he addresses the use and appropriation of technologies by favela residents.
