Resumo:
This article aims to (i) analyze some constitutive elements of both the accumulation pattern in effect during the Old Republic (1889-1930) and the new pattern established during the 1930s, during Vargas' first government (1930-1937); and (ii) present the general outlines of the old and new configurations of the State and its economic policies in the aforementioned periods. To this end, the theoretical framework of sectoral and social (dis)articulation – a little-known and underutilized tool – was used, which can enable the analysis of the relationship between political and economic elements.
