Resumo:
This study aims to revisit the work and life of Ronald Coase, one of the most influential theoretical economist of the twentieth century. During his long and productive career, Coase contributed on important issues of economic theory. From the development of the theory of transaction costs, he proposed, that the firm comes alive within the economic analysis, no longer seen as a black box, as it was until then, starting to be seen as an economic phenomenon. The main contributions of Coase can be summarized in articles The Nature of the Firm (1937) and The Problem of Social Cost (1960), these works are responsible for him
being awarded the Nobel Prize in 1991. It is still importante to highlight his strong concern between Economics and it´s major link with reality.
