The efficiency of public spending on health is a sine qua non condition for meeting society's demands, considering that resources are scarce and needs are unlimited. There is recognition of the importance of promoting studies to investigate the destination of public resources due to the socioeconomic vulnerability faced by the poorest regions of the country. In view of this, the objective of the research was to evaluate the efficiency of public spending applied to health in the municipalities of the state of Bahia through the application of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), for the years 2015 and 2019. to answer the following question: given the restriction of resources between 2015 and 2019, was the state of Bahia able to maintain the level of efficiency of public spending applied to health in its municipalities in the same period? The results obtained show that a large number of municipalities in Bahia is inefficient, with regard to the allocation of public spending on health and, although an improvement in technical efficiency was observed in 2019, a small number of cities showed an increase in productivity and none of them showed advances. technological.
