Resumo:
This paper aims to analyze the evolution of female participation in the Northeast job market through the logit model. Using as data source the National Household Sample Survey (PNAD), 2002 and 2012. The results found indicate that having the position of head in the family and higher level of education tend to be one of the main reasons for productive insertion. Moreover, it is noteworthy that the fact that having dependents in the family nucleus, such as baby, children and the elderly, tend to reduce the chances of
participation in the labor market, it is believed that this occurs due to the fact that, despite the As economic and social advances exist, there are still social hierarchies based on gender relations, where some roles such as household chores and the care of siblings and grandparents are still assigned to women.
