Resumo:
The Brazilian pharmaceutical industry, which is of great strategic importance to public health and the economy, has undergone significant changes in recent decades. This study aims to analyse the historical evolution, current structure and future prospects of this sector, focusing on the challenges and opportunities for the development of national drug production. The research, exploratory and descriptive
in nature, used a qualitative approach, based on a bibliographical review and documentary analysis. The
results obtained make it possible to understand the complexity of the Brazilian pharmaceutical industry and highlight the importance of industrial policy in guaranteeing the population's access to safe and effective medicines. The research identified the need to strengthen national production, reduce dependence on imports and encourage innovation in the sector.
