Resumo:
This study aims to conduct geographic analyses based on graffiti in Salvador, which adorns walls, surfaces, and facades, leaving its inscriptions embedded in the landscape of the Rio Vermelho neighborhood, located in the city of Salvador - state of Bahia. The research seeks to examine the connections between graffiti, urban art, and Pichação or Pixo, identify the defining characteristics of graffiti in Salvador, and explore the work of its key artists and crews. The study is based on data collected through bibliographic research, analysis of photographic records, references suggested by graffiti artists and other authors, as well as participation in discussion forums, workshops, and events organized by members of the graffiti community. The geographic readings developed throughout this research emerge from the intersection between geographic science and the graffiti in Salvador, engaging with urban studies and deepening reflections on landscape, urban space, and the city. This approach not only interprets graffiti as an expressive manifestation of the urban landscape but also examines it as a social practice that challenges symbolic boundaries and engages with artistic, political, and cultural dimensions of urban space.
