Resumo:
This undergraduate thesis aims to present the theoretical discussion and practical execution stages of developing a bot entitled PegaVisão, whose purpose is to contribute to information verification for the external community, beyond the academic sphere, within the Brazilian fact-checking context. For this purpose, references such as Post-Truth (McIntyre, 2018), The Fixation of Belief (Peirce, 1993), and Sociedade Incivil (Sodré, 2021) were used, as well as works by authors such as Lúcia Santaella and Caio Silva, along with fact-checking organizations like Lupa and Aos Fatos. All of these provided the basis for writing this descriptive report and outlining the Pega Visão bot with relevant data about the transformation in the process of seeking information, which—through the comparative automation of texts from major news outlets in Brazil—makes it possible to identify potential distortions in the dissemination and circulation of information in such a dynamic society. Accordingly, this descriptive report followed the paradigm of symbolic interactionism and the interpretivist paradigm, both focused on understanding the world of lived experiences from the perspective of those who live them. The bot itself was developed collaboratively. At the conclusion of this research, it was possible to infer how the same piece of information can be conveyed in multiple ways, sometimes straying from factual reporting and becoming opinion-based content, to the detriment of the news’ primary intent, as defined by McIntyre (2018).
